The Role:


From starting with the customer in mind, you will be working closely with various stakeholders to deliver growth for Tesco.  Ornua are product partners to Tesco and considered as their best team in Dairy for trust and expertise.  In this role, you would be challenged but have the support of a team who are looking to step change the category and become more customer lead.


Personal Profile:


To be successful in this role you will be required to be the Tesco category champion for all their cheese category, to act as the category leader & tailor the category vision for Tesco and to develop the Category Executive in category skills, commercial awareness & profile building.


Key Responsibilities:

  • From our 5 year “Market lead” category vision & strategy, you will implement a collaborative Tesco plan.  This will be tailored towards Tesco key priorities, Tesco shoppers and capabilities
  • To make recommendations across all the marketing P’s on how Tesco can outperform the rest of the market based on customer insight
  • To share in an engaging way, the latest category trends.  Knowing the reason why behind the trends exist will be what keeps Ornua as Category Leaders
  • To build relationships with all Tesco stakeholders, so we become their point of contact for category expertise
  • To help develop the Category Executive to increase their category & commercial skills
  • To be the lead on range reviews from space, flow and SKU distribution


Key Tasks:

  • Working with Dunnhumby to create an Own Label activation plan to drive sales of cheese across sampling, targeting shoppers via coupons and magazines and report back ROI
  • Creating & sharing monthly reports with Tesco on the latest key insights, with recommendations on how Tesco can continue to outperform the market
  • Recommendations on price & promotional strategies across the year
  • Aligning pack design, pack communication and size to key usage occasions
  • Delivering range reviews through to macro level space and location to SKU by SKU distribution


Other Duties

  • Champion best practice Category Management across the group


Experience / Qualifications:



  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Highly numerate
  • Advanced use of Kantar, Dunnhumby & IRI or Nielsen
  • Commercially aware
  • Strong presentational skills
  • Strong analytical skills & proven ability to deliver actionable insight
  • Able to articulate data concepts to a non-expert audience



  • 5+ years of FMCG experience
  • Negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of joint business planning
  • Knowledge of shopper marketing processes
